Meet the Academic Team

Dr. Al-Nisa S. Tucker-Muhammad is an accomplished educator, school leader, and higher education professional with more than 20 years of experience in education. She is the Founder and Director of Torchlight Educational Academy and currently serves as Director of Muhammad University of Islam–New Jersey (MUI-NJ), where she is committed to developing scholars academically, morally, spiritually, and socially.

Dr. Tucker-Muhammad is a certified New Jersey educator and has spent more than 17 years serving in school leadership. Her educational experience spans elementary and middle school instruction, curriculum development, educational administration, student development, and higher education. She also serves as an adjunct professor at Kean University, teaching courses within the School of Business.

She earned her Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Capella University, a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Rutgers University, and a Bachelor's degree from Northeastern University, where she attended on a full athletic scholarship.

Dr. Tucker-Muhammad believes education should develop the whole child—cultivating academic excellence, strong character, discipline, leadership, and a lifelong commitment to service.

Sis. Tracy Muhammad currently serves as Virtual Director and Middle School Virtual Teacher at Muhammad University of Islam–New Jersey. She has worked with children and families for more than 20 years, including 15 years as a state-certified childcare provider in New Jersey and several years as a paraprofessional in the Newark and Irvington public school systems.

Sis. Tracy Muhammad began her journey with Torchlight Educational Academy in 2014 as an Administrative Assistant before transitioning into the classroom as a middle school teacher in 2016. Following the pandemic, she took on the added role of Virtual Director as the school expanded into virtual education, while continuing to teach middle school students online. She continues to serve as Virtual Director and Middle School Virtual Teacher at Muhammad University of Islam–New Jersey.

Sis. Tracy Muhammad is passionate about teaching, lifelong learning, and supporting the academic, moral, spiritual, and personal growth of every scholar. She is currently completing a Bachelor of Science in Human Services at Walden University, further strengthening her ability to serve children, families, and the broader community.
